They appear on the body as: Port-wine stains, Abnormal artery formations, Abnormal veins, Lymphatic vessel malformation, Angiofibroma (raised, pink bumps on the skin).The light energy emitted by the Nd: YAG  penetrates the skin, penetrating the blood vessel or spider vein. Onychomycosis NDYAG

A fungal nail infection (Onychomycosis), also called tinea unguium, is a fungal infection of the toenails or fingernails is where the fungal microbe invades the nail bed. This condition causes fingernails or toenails to thicken, discolour, disfigure, and split. Although a fungal nail infection is a cosmetic concern, if left untreated toenails can become so thick that they press against the inside of the shoes, causing pressure, irritation, and pain. Fungi thrive in warm, moist environments, so this type of environment can cause them to naturally overpopulate.

At MALEEHACOSMETICS we are using a Medical Grade Laser Platform, which is a safe and effective device for the treatment of nails with onychomycosis/nail fungus per the manufacturing company.

The laser will penetrate into the upper dermis, below the nail bed, to kill bacteria that cause the fungus. The full results of the treatment are generally seen 3-6 months after the treatment begins, due to slow nail growth.

It is very important to follow strict at-home care for your nails. Even though laser treatment for nail fungus is very successful, it will not prevent you from reinfection. Will the laser treatment work if you do nothing at home? Possibly, but why not do all you can to promote healthy nails and keep fungus at bay?

First and foremost fungus LOVES a dark, moist environment…..your shoes! Wear cotton socks or socks with copper threads sewn in for even more fungal fighting power.
Do not wear the same pair of socks for more than one day.
Spray the insides of your shoes with an antifungal spray or powder and if possible do not wear the same pair 2 days in row, let them dry out.
Do not go without socks when wearing shoes.
Use antifungal medications on your nails. It is believed that once you have nail fungus you are more susceptible and we don’t want you to reinfect. These medicines can include both chemical and homoeopathic.
Lavender oil has been shown to be effective in killing fungus especially when combined with tea tree oil.
Keep your nail filed short but do not do a lot of picking under the nail.
Keep nails trimmed and cleaned (disinfect instruments after each use).
Watch any time you are around a wet area. Pools, gym, saunas, etc. Do not go barefoot and always remember to spray your shoes/sandals with antifungal.
Lastly, be patient! This is a slow process. It takes months to see improvement at times. We want to see you back in 2 weeks or 1 month for another treatment. Your practitioner will tell you when it is best for you to come back.

The skin surrounding nails should be shaved if hair growth is prominent.
